In these trying times, many of us may have some extra time to improve road safety. One easy way to protect yourself and others is to check recalls on your vehicle. It is generally quite easy. Check to Protect is a national campaign to help people get the recall reports on their vehicle. You can go to https://www.checktoprotect.org/ to search for recalls on your motor vehicle.
You may need your VIN number which you can find on your car’s driver side dashboard. It may be easiest to see the VIN by looking from outside the windshield. Your VIN may also be on the driver side door pillar. Once you have your VIN, you can also go to https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to search for recalls. Something positive can come out of the national emergency if cars and trucks on the road are safer. And if you don’t need your vehicle as much as usual, it can also be a good time to get it into the shop.
